Apprenticeship Training Program

The IEC of Southern Arizona  Electrical Apprenticeship Program is registered with the Arizona Department of Commerce and the  U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship Training. 

The 4-year apprenticeship program provides 144  hours (a total of 576 hours) of classroom  instruction per year PLUS 8,000 hours of on-the-job training.  

Classes meet twice a week in the late-afternoon or evening for 2 1/2 hours each.

College credit is earned through Pima Community College.  

Wage increases are guaranteed every 6 months upon achieving satisfactory grades and work performance.

Job placement, if not already employed with a member contractor, and continued job placement throughout the program.  

Successful completion of the 4-year program earns the apprentice a “journeyman” certification. 


Journeyworkers currently earn more than

$20 per hour on average.

Application Process

1. Request and Information & Application PACKET from IEC of Southern Arizona by emailing Please include all contact information including your name, mailing address, phone number and e-mail address.  A packet will be mailed or emailed to you.

2.  Once application is completed, all necessary documentation has been gathered and you are ready to take a short math test .... CALL for an appointment at 520-795-9473 to submit your application and take the math exam. 

3.  Bring  your High School diploma or GED (dd214 if you qualify for VA benefits).

4.  Take a short math test and receive a program overview—allow 1 hour
